About
Meet Dr Rose McDonnell
I’m a qualified obstetrician and gynaecologist specialising in advanced laparoscopic pelvic surgery, with a special interest in fertility medicine. I consult from rooms at St John Of God Subiaco and I also work at Fertility Specialists of WA.
Through medical assessment, and by coordinating relevant scans, I work to diagnose your gynaecological or reproductive concerns and guide you through the treatment process.
As a woman in medicine, I’ve seen inequity in women’s health. This motivated me to carve out a space in gynaecology where I can make a meaningful difference to women’s life experiences.
I feel grateful to be able to work with women of all stages of life, and help them feel comfortable and empowered discussing their health and getting the right treatment.
My Journey
I’ve always loved medicine. I began my medical career as a medical scientist majoring in haematology, microbiology and biochemistry. I was drawn towards treating people directly, so I decided to study medicine.
After receiving my Masters in Reproductive Medicine, I completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at King Edward Memorial Hospital and Fertility Specialists of WA. I also completed a Fellowship with the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society in Advanced Pelvic Surgery at King Edward Memorial Hospital Perth.
Aside from my medical accreditations, I take career development seriously. I have presented various research topics in gynaecology and fertility at local and international conferences, and have had the opportunity to research and publish* in various medical journals.
How can I help you?
I know health issues can be daunting and you’re probably feeling vulnerable. My job is to make you feel comfortable and reassure you that you’re in safe hands.
As an obstetrician and gynaecologist, I diagnose, treat and aid in the prevention of disorders of the female reproductive system.
I’m also a qualified advanced laparoscopic surgeon with a special interest in endometriosis and fertility, so I can be your doctor from diagnosis to treatment. My aim is to understand your needs and your lifestyle so that I can tailor the best treatment plan for you.
